       Village of Hythe Declares a State of Local Emergency

The Village of Hythe has declared a state of local emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic medical crisis, pursuant to Section 21 of the Emergency Management Act, effective immediately.

In declaring a state of local emergency for the Village of Hythe it provides additional powers to combat the spread of the pandemic, ensure the stability of core services and support the community.  Mayor Brian Peterson shared that, “the Village is working with its municipal neighbours to be proactive and manage the situation strategically with the well-being of our residents at the forefront of our decision.  We encourage people to continue helping and supporting each other in a safe manner and we are thankful to see this happening. There were three main reasons why the Village decided to declare the state of local emergency:

  • We want to enhance our ability to protect and support our residents.

  • We want to be able to help address supply chain issues as they arise (i.e., food, medication, and other supplies).  And,

  • We want to strengthen communication between the various governing bodies (i.e., provincially and locally) to provide to the government to help us mitigate emerging issues as quickly as possible.

Effective Immediately

The Village of Hythe Municipal Office, Municipal Buildings, and Municipal Facilities will be LOCKED to the general public. We are still in the office working and will respond to e-mails and phone calls during regular business hours. These measures are necessary in order to provide essential municipal services to our residents.

Regional municipalities declare State of Local Emergency

Snowbird Alert

We know you’ve been gone a long time and would love to see and visit with your loved ones. We ask that you practice your due diligence and remain in a no physical contact quarantine for the recommended 14 days. Please make arrangements for your arrival home and your 14-day quarantine. Have a family member or friend deliver groceries, prescriptions, etc. to your doorstep, again, no physical contact.

If you need assistance acquiring supplies please call the Village of Hythe office for assistance.

The Village of Hythe is inviting volunteers to provide support for people in our community by offering Pick-up and Delivery Services. 

Procedures will be in place to ensure the safety of our volunteers and the people who need support.
